This listing is for a conversion ring to adapt a Getrag gearbox with an standard AJ6 (2.9, 3.2, 3.6, 4.0) bell housing to a V12 engine. This is a 15mm conversion ring that allows you to bolt the gearbox directly to the engine. This is part of our successful and well know Getrag manual conversion kit. Originating from an early Lister design, this ring is a proven and tested way to put the Getrag gearbox on the V12 engine. We have sold over 300 Getrag gearbox conversions and we will be able to assist you with other parts too.
This is part of a kit, usually sold as a conversion ring, flywheel and clutch. These days we are no longer able to offer complete Getrag gearbox conversions. We are no longer able to source the gearboxes like we used to. We still support the conversion and can assist you if you can source your own JAGUAR Getrag gearbox either 290 or 265. We suggest you share a picture or contact us prior to purchase to ensure the ring is compatible for your application.
This is a CNC machined ring now made in aluminium. Its supplied with all the correct bolts to fit it. It fits all V12 engines with the Borg Warner model 12 transmission or the GM400. Later cars (mostly 6.0) with the 4L80E need our later conversion ring. Due to the way the ring works there is interference on the bottom starter bolt hole aswell as the starter motor front. The top starter bolt is also not accessible once the bell housing is fitted. We supply the correct socket head cap with the kit so you can put a pilot hole in the bell housing if you wish to access this bolt at a later point. If you use an original style starter motor you will need to trim and relieve the bell housing. We have attached some other pictures showing this. For the bottom bolt, due to the interference with the AJ6 dowel its threaded with an M8 thread. This means its accessible from the engine side rather than gearbox side. This means the top bolt is accessible through a pilot hole in the bell housing and the lower bolt from the engine side. The M8 thread is smaller than the 3/8 UNC thread in the starter motor so it passes through. The starter locates in the block so this is just to hold it in place.
If you do not wish to trim the bell housing we advise you fit a WOSP or a modern high torque starter where the dog gear is independent. We stock this in another listing.
